WE FIRST HATCHED THIS RESTAURANT’S OFF-THE-WALL IDEA
back in 2014. We would take the unused parts from Federal Donuts chickens and repurpose into soup, which would become the backbone (pun intended) of Rooster’s restaurant menu. The best part: 100% of Rooster’s profit would go towards funding the mission of our partner, Broad Street Hospitality Collaborative.

Broad Street is an amazing place, where Philadelphia’s most vulnerable citizens receive food, vital social services and the kind of radical hospitality that inspired this idea for a restaurant in the first place. And with your simple and generous act of eating a meal here, you are helping to provide hospitality to those who are often least likely to receive it.
Through its Hospitality Collaborative, Broad Street Ministry served more than 72,000 meals in 2017. But, it is NOT a soup kitchen. Guests are seated by a host and eat a three-course meal served by a volunteer waitstaff and prepared by a professional chef.
And that’s not all. BSM is the mailing address for more than 3,000 people, enabling them to be eligible to get an ID, housing, employment and benefits. There is a clothing closet, personal care packages, medical care, legal services, benefits and housing assistance. The list goes on and on.
At the end of the day, all of these essential services cost money. And that’s where you come in. 100% of the profits of this restaurant support the Hospitality Collaborative’s mission.
So from everyone at Broad Street Ministry, Federal Donuts and The Rooster, thank you!
Hospitality is fundamental. Pass it on.
